Event epicenter was 60 km (37 miles) from Taipei (c. 7 871 900 pop), 64 km (40 miles) from Banqiao (c. 543 300 pop), 80 km (50 miles) from Taoyuan City (c. 402 000 pop), 47 km (29 miles) from Keelung (c. 397 500 pop), 34 km (21 miles) from Yilan (c. 94 200 pop), 79 km (49 miles) from Daxi (c. 84 500 pop).
