I was sitting at my computer in Big Spring, Texas, on the 4th floor of a 6 story building when the earthquake struck. The first thing I felt was some shaking (mostly vertical) after about 15-20 seconds, it felt as if the building were swaying (horizontal), and a plant and plant stand fell over in the next room. At this distance from the epicenter, it was hard to tell if it was a quake, or if there had been an explosion in the distance (e.g. Alon refinery a few years back. The entire thing was over in approximately 1 minute… very strange for West Texas, almost as if the country’s forefathers were rolling over in their graves at the idea of the first responders and clergy not being welcome at the 9/11 memorial in NYC!
